The Tafsir At-Tabari, authored by Imam Ibn Jarir al-Tabari, is certainly the most important and famous Tafsir. Al-Nawawi stated, “The community is unanimous about the fact that no one has written such a work in Tafsir al-Tabari.” Additionally, as Suyuti remarked about Imam Ibn Jarir al-Tabari, “He wrote the most important and hugest Tafsir.” This Tafsir is also noteworthy for being one of the earliest of its kind.

The methodology employed in this Tafsir involves explaining the meanings of the verses through reference to other verses, hadiths, and the statements of the Sahaba and Tabi’ins. Imam al-Tabari then presents the view that he considers prominent. This work holds a seminal position in its field and serves as an authoritative reference.
